NORESCO leads a highly specialized team of employees and consultants in the development of building energy efficiency code compliance tools and training. This team uses the User Centered Design process to develop Performance-based Solutions which increase compliance with building energy codes. Increasing compliance is a critical component of realizing the energy savings and other benefits from ZNE building codes.

NORESCO is seeking an Engineer/Analyst II to direct and execute major projects within the Codes Compliance team. This position should have proven expertise and skills specific to the building energy efficiency industry, proven technical writing skills, and the ability to prepare and coordinate a variety of staff and client materials. Aptitude for and experience with project management and client management is required. He or she will execute project activities that are technical and detail-oriented; prepare statements of work; and manage and conduct technical and market transformation activities for projects within the Code Compliance team.

He or she will have primary responsibility for executing technical content of deliverables with involvement from others, either within or separate from the organization; preparation of deliverables in required formats with support from others; and performing quality control activities to ensure technically correct work products. The Engineer/Analyst II will work with the Program Director of Code Compliance to develop exceptional project management and client management skills, with the goal of being able to independently manage projects and provide quality customer service to the client within two years. He or she may be called upon to coordinate and represent NORESCO in workshops and presentations as related to the client projects.

This position is expected to primarily perform technical work independently with occasional counsel from the Program Director of Code Compliance, senior technical staff, and appropriate colleagues, and is generally responsible for overseeing the technical and aesthetic quality of all work produced for assigned projects. The Engineer/Analyst II will perform work as assigned by a project manager within the Code Compliance team upon hire, and will work to enhance project and client management skills to be able to independently deliver projects for key clients. The Program Director of Code Compliance will provide guidance to this individual on business planning, budgeting, scheduling, key account management and general management practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide energy efficiency expertise and perform technical tasks on Code Compliance projects. Position requires a broad knowledge of the industry and attention to detail. Knowledge of the building delivery process and permitting process a plus.

  • Communication with others on the team regarding current workload, project updates, potential obstacles, opportunities for innovation, and specific project deadlines on contracted work is required.

  • Assists others to assess, develop, and prepare new statements of work for the Code Compliance Team.

  • Utilize user centered design concepts to produce work products that are designed specifically for the needs and workflow of the users.

  • Exhibit a semi-advanced understanding of the following:

  • ​energy efficiency measures for new and existing buildings

  • energy codes and standards, knowledge about California Title 24, Part 6 and IECC building energy efficiency standards is a plus.

  • energy code compliance strategies, including efforts to improve the usability of efficiency codes

  • energy codes towards zero net energy, including the integration of renewable energy into building code metrics.

  • Work towards independently managing key clients and delivering high-quality projects.

  • Direct positive experience as a project manager or key account manager

  • Experience with implementing energy efficiency codes in the construction process

  • Familiarity with computer programming and internet technologies (Javascript, Java, python, etc.)

  • Active member of professional associations

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in environmental, architecture, engineering, or equivalent.
