This position is for an Experienced Supply Chain professional, who monitors supplier performance, conducts on site assessments, and helps key suppliers in issue resolution. Works with management of key suppliers and coordinates across sites and functional boundaries. Coordinates the identification and resolution of risks / obstacles to ensure manufacturing, supply chain, and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Executes onsite assessments with the critical buyers, quality, and engineering teams to drive supplier improvement.

  • Uses Supplier Development Playbook and other performance improvement tools to improve key supplier performance to Supplier Gold standards.

  • Partners with suppliers to identify and remove barriers to the implementation of CI to improve on-time delivery and quality.

  • Monitors and analyzes supplier performance and applies sustainable countermeasures and actions in order to facilitate improvement.

  • Conducts production readiness assessments for New Product Introduction and rate increases, including capacity confirmation to ensure a timely ramp-up to production volumes.

  • Monitors key performance indicators, analyzes cost-to-serve performance data, and coordinates cross-functional work teams to increase effectiveness of supply chain initiatives

  • Engages the management of key suppliers to initiate appropriate improvement programs to achieve and sustain high levels of performance.

  • Coordinates across sites and functional boundaries to identify and resolve risks/obstacles in a pro-active and expeditious manner to ensure manufacturing, supply chain and delivery schedules are in alignment with customer needs.

  • Plans, organizes, directs and reports all activities and matters relating to supplier performance.

  • Evaluates supplier performance, management, capacity and production readiness.

  • Assesses supplier qualifications including training and certifications.

  • Elaborates supplier development plans and works in collaboration with the supplier to ensure best performance is achieved.

Specialist, Supplier Performance

The Supplier Performance organization is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic professional who is eager to lead, promote, and drive continuous improvement, and process controls for the suppliers in the Region. Provide training and drive suppliers to implement sustainable plans for improvement. Drive the ACE tools & techniques of Relentless Root Cause Analysis, Mistake-Proofing, and Value Stream Mapping for the purpose of driving down escapes, and DPPM. Drive quality & OTD improvement efforts at suppliers and regularly report the status of the key quality & OTD metrics. This associate must be a team player and collaborate with Commodity, Engineers, Buyers, Program Office, other Supplier Performance team members, Suppliers, and all levels of leadership.

Part of a highly skilled integrated Supplier Development team, working together across the Segment to drive Supplier Performance to Gold levels.

  • Liaise and provide regular report outs to the Business Unit Supplier Quality &Supplier Performance Leads to ensure proper resource allocation to close gaps, and ensure suppliers are meeting quality, delivery & customer satisfaction (MFA) criteria

  • Develop and implement key standardized processes across the Segment

  • Monitor supplier performance, and facilitate improvement by applying sustainable countermeasures and actions, and working with supplier to manage supplier Sustainable Improvement Plan (SIP)

  • Assist suppliers in developing and implementing KPI’s in support of UTAS business targets

  • Train and develop selected suppliers to deliver their own self-sustaining improvement activities

  • Understand and measure product cost drivers for materials, labor and overheads to ensure they are consistent and reasonable. Where appropriate, develop improvement activities to reduce these.

  • Validate key process capability and help the supplier improve those processes

  • Provide training to Supplier on Quality and Delivery Clinic and ensure closeout of gap actions to achieveClinic implementation

  • Work with the supplier to complete the Supplier Health Assessment (SHA) and assist in closing the gap to achieving gold status

  • For New Product Introduction and rate increases conduct and participate in Production Readiness assessments including capacity confirmation to ensure a timely ramp-up to production volumes

  • Develop and continually improve relationships across the supply chain, working closely with internal and external stakeholders

  • Support Commodity Strategy through the implementation of best practice tools & techniques at key/critical suppliers and educate, develop & train these suppliers in best practice tools/techniques

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree level (Engineering/Quality/Supply Chain/Business preferred)

Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Supply Chain/Quality/ Procurement /Production Engineering/Operations environment and supporting professional/academic qualification

  • Preferred Lean Practitioner/ACE Associate or Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Have a basic understanding of the Aerospace & Defense markets

  • Experience of leading change/improvement implementation programs with both Senior Management & operational teams

  • Experienced in leading cross functional teams through project management essentials

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels internally and externally.

  • Computer literacy including competence in Microsoft Office

  • Ability to travel within your area of responsibility (60-80%) of the time

  • Ability to think outside the box
