As part of the Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS) team, you'll help develop the next generation of more intelligent, more integrated and more reliable solutions that enhance aircraft safety and performance in the most rigorous flight conditions. The Engineering Discipline Leader is the overall leader of the engineering organizations technical disciplines. The ESL ensures technical excellence across engineering. The ESL ensures the overall resource demands in terms of staffing, test facilities, and capabilities satisfy the needs of the program execution teams. The ESL is responsible for and owns the reconciliation process of resolving gaps in resource demands versus supply working with the Discipline Managers and Program Chiefs. The ESL also ensures the development, deployment, and adherence to standard work, design reviews, and design process assurance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Overall leader of disciplines within the functional engineering organization.

  • Owns and drives the reconciliation process to identify and close gaps in resource supply versus demand.

  • Conducts discipline health reviews working with the various discipline managers.

  • Ensures overall engineering staff training & development plans are developed

  • Develops the overall engineering sourcing strategies by working with the discipline managers.

  • Ensures proper engagement and utilization with the Global Engineering Centers and outsource suppliers.

  • Ensures adherence to standard work, design reviews, and design process assurance.

  • Management of development test facilities and capabilities.

  • Develops strategies for outside test facilities and services.

  • Ensure compliance with international trade compliance policies and procedures.

  • Ensures the protection of UTAS and safeguard of customer and supplier/partner intellectual property.

  • Accountable for Discipline engineering spending & control

  • ACE leader for engineering

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across the organization and various disciplines, including Engineering, Program Office, Business Development.

  • Strong project planning and resource management skills with all associated processes and tools

  • Strong financial acumen and understanding new GAAP rules for development programs

  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills

  • Familiarity with all engineering disciplines

  • Talent management, training, and development

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree w/6-10 years experience

  • Master of Arts/Master of Science degree w/4-7 years experience
