We are currently searching for a Principal Program Manager position located in Cedar Rapids, IA to join our Airbus OEM Programs team.

Job Summary

As part of Commercial Avionics organization, Principal Program Manager within the Airbus OEM Programs Team responsible primarily for the management of the entire product line equipping the A350 Information Management Onboard (IMO) and legacy FlySmart Information Management products;

Job Responsibilities

Product Line & Program Management

  • Oversee the consistent and reliable production and delivery of high quality products on time

  • Coordinate forecasts, priorities, and demand planning with operations

  • Mitigate obsolescence and yield risks/issues

  • Drive produce-ability and quality improvements

  • Lead development effort in respect to Collins’ contractual commitments and internal roadmap

  • Lead the Risk and Opportunity Management as well as Change Control Board within the portfolio

  • Drive predictable performance

  • Embrace Primary Customer-Facing role with Airbus for business discussions and decision-making related to the portfolio

  • Manage the transition of products through their life cycle phases

  • Define the scope and priorities for all R&D, collateral, and value engineering projects within the portfolio

  • Ensure bids and proposals are reasonable

Strategic Planning and Reporting

  • Provide inputs to or complete reports/presentation as required by management to ensure the proper coordination, approval, status and understanding of all LCVSM activities

  • Define and drive the implementation of product portfolio roadmapping

  • Coordinate with marketing and strategy teams to understand/define the market forecast for the product/portfolio

  • Coordinate with the Triad to ensure the most effective participation in industry events in support of the product roadmap

  • Identify technical insertion opportunities to stay aligned with industry requirements and discriminate Collins from the competition

  • Plan, monitor and control portfolio budgets in accordance with AOP and SFP processes

Customer Support and Relationship Management

  • Manage customer expectations, responses, schedules, agreements and issues associated with the development or modification of products in your portfolio

  • Ensure timely response and resolution of questions and issues from customers related to fielded products

  • Engage in negotiations regarding performance terms and conditions, pricing, and others business elements which define portfolio commitments to the customer

Support to Market/New Business Pursuit

  • Identify and cultivate opportunities with customers to grow market share or advance your product roadmap

  • Manage product pricing and ensure capture strategies meets profitability objectives

  • Validate special pricing requests

  • Maintain pricing accuracy within the Rockwell Collins catalog/SAP

  • Coordinate with marketing regarding external communication about product launch and discontinuation

Basic Qualifications

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Technical and/or business management experience

  • Fluent in English

  • Other appreciated qualifications / attributes

  • Life Cycle Value Stream Manager experience

  • Technical background, for most efficient interactions with customers and internally with Engineering. Understanding of Agile development process is a Plus

  • Experience of direct interface with a customer. Previous experience in airborne/avionics business with Airbus

  • Negotiations skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Enthusiasm to be part of a challenging and visible program

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communications skills are required along with the ability to establish effective communication and working relationships with all levels and functions, internally and externally
