Carrier is looking for a highly motivated and results driven Design Engineering Intern to work with the Commercial Engineering Design team. The group is responsible for developing Air Cooled and Water Cooled Chiller products. This position is for a Design Intern to support various projects in 2020. The assignment will be during the summer for 3-4 months in Charlotte, NC. The intern should have at least 2 years of course study to support projects in 2020.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Intern will be responsible for the following:
Provide design engineering support for New Water and Air-Cooled Product Development programs
Writing practicable SWI (Standard Work Instructions) for Design TeamPOC/ECS proof of concepts builds/engineering check samples/prototyping hands on assembly of commercial chiller
Provide design support for customization projects
Work with engineering and operations personnel to improve Change Management Workflows
Organizing copper/pipe fittings and fasteners in spreadsheet – indexing so eng/des team easily search for off-the-shelf components
Writing practicable SWI (Standard Work Instructions) and detailed documentation of the work performed for Design Team
Safety Label project that involves translation
POC/ECS – proof of concepts builds/engineering check samples/prototyping hands on assembly of commercial chiller
General/basic design support needs for Air-Cooled and Water-Cooled teams
Mechanical/Electrical and HVAC engineering design and testing support for a new air-cooled/water cooled product development project
Will assist in preparation of design engineering deliverables.
Students will utilize computers for calculations, spreadsheets, timesheets, reports, etc.
Report out on experience and present summer-long project to the local Engineering leadership team in a 30-45 minute power point presentation at end of internship
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:
Candidate should be working on a degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or and have completed at least 2 years of coursework with a greater than 3.0/4.0 GPA
Highly energetic and success driven team player
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Self-directed and able to tackle new projects and ideas
Effectively able to interact with technicians and other departments and suppliers
Ability to persist and succeed with cross-cultural communication on technical issues
Strong technical skills and analytical proficiency
Highly organized with strong attention to detail, and superior follow-up and follow-through skills
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office
