RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive operational excellence within the department and support same across the organization

  • Must be able to interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications as well as assist with estimation/design and implementation of select projects and service contracts

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some night, evening and weekend work

  • Manage all engineers towards departmental and companywide goals

  • Hire, supervise, coach and develop ALC Controls Software Engineers

  • Excellent and positive communications skills when working with customers, vendors and employees

  • Proven leadership capabilities including the skill to develop and motivate others

  • Review metrics to drive performance and ensure the Software engineering team meets or exceeds established level of performance

  • Ongoing development of processes and procedures to meet changing environment

  • Update and maintain documentation associated with processes and procedures

  • Continuously improve and assist in tool develop which will increase productivity and team performance

Qualification:

  • 5-7 years field experience in the controls industry including DDC Systems commissioning, software operation, and calibration or 2-4 years field experience and 4 year Engineering or Computer Science degree

  • 2 or more years in a supervisory position leading teams

  • Knowledgeable in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC industry

  • Knowledge with network equipment, cabling and their environments

  • Knowledge of various database systems, including MS SQL, Derby, Postgre, and MySQL

  • Knowledgeable in construction contracting industry with specific emphasis in mechanical/electrical fields and specific experience on construction projects, and executing to contract

  • Able to visit job construction hard hat areas and climb stairs; maneuver in and around pipe work and air ducts; and work safely in close proximity to exposed line voltage and low voltage wiring and terminations

  • Communicate effectively with teammates and clients in English (written, verbal and aural)

Education: PREFERRED: 2- or 4- year technical degree plus industry-related technical and management courses. Additional experience and technical training/certifications may be substituted for the degree.
