Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

An Associate Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer has responsibility for:

  • Develop and implement plans that are in line with the business strategy to further our world class technology portfolio

  • Provide operational engineering support to develop technologies and processes which support the growth curve and cost reduction targets

  • Leverage manufacturing innovations to improve cost, delivery, and quality of aerospace disk and air foils

  • Develop plans and processes to align with our growth strategy to support the next generation of aerospace propulsion systems

  • Perform research and development activities to support other functional areas regarding technical and or material/metallurgical issues related to quality, operations, and processes

  • Assist with problem solving during manufacturing related investigations

  • Support operational excellence using statistical analysis for process control and certification

  • Lead the ACE journey to continuously improve the quality and exceed customer’s expectations

  • Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures

  • This position is part of Pratt & Whitney talent growth strategy to maintain our competitive advantage in the rotor and air foil forging industry

  • Develop forging tools and techniques to improve first run yield

  • Develop machining techniques to improve first run yield

  • Create capital plans and specify equipment to meet the growing needs of the forging manufacturing unit

To be successful in this position, you should have the following experience:

Qualification:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed knowledge and experience with SAP and Solumina

  • Experience writing and tailoring standard work instructions to shop capability

  • Knowledge of thermal processing of air foil super alloys, robotics, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus

  • Knowledge of multi axis grinding, 5 axis milling, Mill-turn, 2 and 4 axis lathes, and broaching techniques to produce

  • 3D printing

  • Ability to work with CAD tools, and create engineering blue prints using ASME Y14.5

  • Good organizational skills with project management experience

  • Possess good people and communication skills

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6S, etc.)

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, or Technical field with 4 plus years of experience-OR-

  • Master’s Degree with 2 plus years of experience

  • US Citizen due to program requirements
