Job Description

We are seeking a MECHANICAL TEST ENGINEER to provide support to programs requiring environmental test and verification. You will be responsible for designing specialized tooling, generating test procedures, organizing, planning and executing critical testing, and supporting maintenance of lab equipment. Capability for data collection, reduction and documentation is required. This is a hands-on position that requires you to work directly with the technical staff to complete the required testing. Occasional weekend and shift work is required to support the 24/7 operations in the test facility. Responsibilities include:

  • Support test requirement generation

  • Generate test procedures

  • Perform and support specialized testing

  • Program proposal support and cost estimating

  • Design of specialized tooling/fixtures/equipment

  • Perform analysis as required

  • Verify analysis with structural/thermal group

  • Interface with Program Office regarding work schedule and required support

  • Assist technicians as required to install and prepare for test

  • Verification of set-ups; oversee performance of the unit under test and test hardware during test. Reduce data post-test. Collect test data/generate test reports at test completion

  • Provide daily support to technicians as issues/concerns arise

  • Provide equipment operating and maintenance procedures

  • Provide training on equipment and software

  • Responsible POC for facility/equipment during installations and upgrades

Qualification:

  • 3 – 7 years’ relevant work experience

  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of:

  • Thermal vacuum chambers

  • Thermal cycling chambers

  • Vibration equipment

Instrumentation knowledge:

  • Temperature

  • Pressure / Vacuum

  • Vibration

  • Acoustic

Software knowledge:

  • Microsoft Office products

  • Pro/E Creo or Solid works

  • MATLAB

Must be a US citizen and must either hold a current US DoD clearance or must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related discipline.
