This 2019 Spring Co-Op position begins in January, 2019 and runs through either May or August, 2019. (This is not a summer internship.) A housing stipend is offered to those who meet the eligibility requirements. Students are responsible for securing their own housing if needed.

Job responsibilities

As a Co-Op in our Manufacturing/Production Engineering group in Danbury, CT, you will be involved in:

  • Developing and refining the operations work content including facilitating teams to foster employee involvement

  • Develop and maintaining work instructions and manufacturing specifications

  • Reviewing and approving drawings, tooling and fixture designs

  • Developing an understanding of facility and assembly process development including capacity planning and project management

Qualification:

  • Knowledge of basic MS Office tools including Word, Excel and Powerpoint as well as Microsoft Software

  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA standards and American National Standards and regulations concerning H&S

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration

  • Critical/strategic thinking ability

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

Preferred:

  • Introduction to Circuits course

  • CAD course (preferably ProE/Creo)

  • Materials Processing course

  • Prior intern experience in the aerospace industry and/or circuit card manufacturing

  • Knowledge / experience with 6 sigma or equivalent management system experience

Work Environment:

Must be able to work in both office and lab environments

May be exposed to chemicals and solvents

May be required to wear PPE in labs and clean rooms

Due to contract requirements, this position is only available to US Citizens (No Dual Citizenship)

Education:

  • You must be pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; other disciplines may be considered.

  • Must be enrolled as a full time student preceding, and following. the co-op assignment

  • GPA of 3.0 or above is required at both the time of application and start date
