The Product Manager, Gas Ignition & Multi-Burner Products is responsible for product life-cycle management and product portfolio management of Fireye’s gas and electric Igniters and supporting Multi-Burner product lines. The Product Manager will apply a blend of technical and business competencies to optimize product line technology and performance, while simultaneously driving superior customer satisfaction and product line growth and profitability. This position will interface internally with diverse business unit functions, (e.g. engineering, sales, operations, service, etc.), as well as corporate management, and externally with customers and various sales/distribution channels on a global basis.
General Responsibilities of the Role:
Create and manage product line strategies and roadmaps from new product conceptualization through potential product end-of-life;
Maintain product line dashboards on existing products in accordance with divisional guidelines for continuous strategic assessment;
Manage the product line portfolio to ensure an optimal product mix that will yield continuous growth in revenue and profitability, matching or exceeding industry rates;
Participate in divisional and corporate strategic and product planning;
Drive new product introduction from early conceptualization through final product launch in accordance with established product development process procedures;
Define and create marketing and sales collateral for products to include; data sheets, presentations, technical briefs, application notes, positioning strategies, etc.;
Conduct and maintain market research to assess technology, regulatory, industry, customer and competitive dynamics for incorporation into product and business strategies; and
Provide sales and service support through product documentation, product demonstrations, trade show assistance, training, customer visits, business reports, and overall product line expertise;
Provide on-site start-up and commissioning assistance on all Fireye products and applications in this line when required;
Solicit market information such as competitive data, installation information, and customer data base management; and
Working with marketing team to produce product launch materials and documentation, and establish and develop product and marketing advertising and promotional programs for the product line, including writing articles and submitting papers to conferences as required.
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical or mechanical
MBA or Master’s degree is optional
5+ years’ experience in commercial/industrial burner, igniters, safety, and controls;
3+ year’s product management/marketing experience;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Highly motivated; ability to interface and lead multi-functional teams;
A proven desire for continuous improvement; and
Strong computer office software skills (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and;
The employee is periodically required to perform repetitive movements;
The employee may occasionally be required to visit field installations in refineries, power facilities, and industrial plants;
Employee is required to occasionally use mechanical controls including buttons, knobs, levers, cranks, and pedals in performance of a function;
Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials;
The employee is occasionally required to reach overhead with hands and arms; rotate body from sitting and standing position and lift and carry weight up to 30 lbs.;
Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer; and
The employee is regularly required to walk and move around; use of hands to feel, touch, grasp or grip tools, objects, or handles.
