Systems Integration Validation Flight Test is looking for a Flight Test Engineer to lead in-house planning activities for a Commercial Program. This position will be based in East Hartford, CT and may require some travel to support the assigned program. You should be knowledgeable in engine test, engine maintenance protocol, and should have good interpersonal skills. Frequent communication with the off-site Flight Test Teams will be required. You will work to support the on-site flight test manager & the in-house flight test manager. Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead break-out meetings as required to help address issues / questions / challenges

  • Lead key tasks assigned by the in-house manager / on-site manager / lead FTE to ensure clear moving forward plans are established and maintained for the Compliance Engine Fleet

  • Help to lead flight test requirements including any updated restrictions or limits that must be followed during flight test

  • Support the creation and update of requirements documents (Flight Test Letters) to ensure all key items are documented per standard work

  • Communicate regular feedback to the in-house lead & on-site manager to maintain consistent updates on progress

  • Help to inspire and follow flight safety protocols

  • Assist in solving problems flight squawks, and ground test operations, as required

  • Lead potential hardware replacement and maintain part life records

  • Support technical engineering coordination meetings (SIPT) to understand potential new requirements & provide feedback as required

  • Maintain engine configuration awareness & documentation as required Ø Effective skills working in a team environment

  • Aim to meet customer requirements and prevent any delay, while maintaining the highest quality of work

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 5 + years in Engineering

  • US Citizen, due to Government contracts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience & training in engine ground test or flight test operations preferred

  • Be able to work well with various groups within P&W and the customer

  • Should have a deep understanding of installed turbofan mechanical systems hardware and general maintenance / test processes and practices

  • Ability to comprehend various assembly/repair and test processes, procedures & engineering documentation

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings

  • Ability to work occasional modified shift schedule & weekend work as required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Preferred fields include Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
