In this role you will support the manufacturing of aerospace engines with projects related to safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and cost. This includes the application of lean manufacturing techniques, human factors, logistics and production planning and control.

Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the optimization of complex processes or systems. It involves driving efficiency, reducing costs, improving the quality of the products and services we provide as well as improving the safety and ergonomics within our facilities. This role is key to Pratt & Whitney’s operational transformation.

In this role you will support the manufacturing of aerospace engines with projects related to safety, quality, efficiency, productivity and cost. This includes the application of lean manufacturing techniques, human factors, logistics and production planning and control.

Job Summary -

  • Implementing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Overall Labor Effectiveness (OOE) initiatives within manufacturing operations

  • Calculating machine and labor requirements, capacity, and inventory needs

  • Improving work cell design and process flow

  • Improving manufacturing visual management

  • Participating in and leading kaizen events

  • Conducting time studies to create and maintain manufacturing standards

  • Developing and maintaining process maps, value stream maps, and standard work documents

  • Learning and applying new concepts while keeping current with state of the art techniques

Basic Qualifications -

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field with 3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on Industrial, Process, System, or Project Engineering OR a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field with 1+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on Industrial, Process, System or Project Engineering.

  • US Citizenship is required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications -

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

  • Data mining & manipulation experience with VBA, SQL, other methods

  • Understanding of capital acquisition process – knowledge or background preferred

  • Experience with OEE and OLE/OOE

  • Demonstrated project management experience

  • Ability to work and interact with all levels of an organization

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • You should be self-starters and able to work with minimal direction

  • Ability to data mine through multiple information systems

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite

  • Reliability, willingness to learn, attention to detail

  • Some travel required
