Pratt and Whitney, a subsidiary of UTC, is a world leader in the design, manufacture and support of engines for commercial, military and regional aircrafts, as well as a leader in the production of space propulsion systems. The Materials & Processes group is looking for talented engineering students to work as a Summer Intern in one or more of the following areas: • Materials development (alloys, coatings, polymer/composite materials and advanced materials) • Materials characterization (chemical, microstructural, etc.) • Failure analysis • Non-destructive evaluation • Experimental mechanics (statics, vibrations, mechanical test) • Production of cast engine components • Material applications • Data Analysis • Business Development During this internship, you may be responsible for supporting commercial and military programs to address various materials and chemical processing needs. These programs encompass testing and validating environmentally friendly materials and processes, material/chemical compatibility, testing turbine engine alloys and qualification of external suppliers performing specialized operations. Specific tasks may include metallurgical testing and evaluation, pilot testing of chemical processes and coating property analysis (e.g. corrosion, wear, hardness, thickness etc.). The internship participant will also document and analyze data/results, prepare reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on their findings. Education / Certifications Candidates should be pursuing a BS degree Materials Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering or Chemical Engineering with a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Experience / Qualifications Interest in building a technical or management career in applied materials development and materials/hardware characterization. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present technical data. Demonstrated experience working effectively in teams as both a leader and a participant.

Qualification: Interest in building a technical or management career in applied materials development and materials/hardware characterization. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to effectively present technical data. Education:

Candidates should be pursuing a BS degree Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry with a minimum 3.0 grade point average.
