The Pratt & Whitney, East Hartford Site Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) organization is seeking a motivated individual looking for an opportunity to support and execute diverse EHS requirements, at a multi-tenant large site. The individual will interact extensively with labor union representatives, management, supervisors, hourly and salary employees on various projects and teams. Responsibilities include:

  • Program manager for health and safety programs such as Electrical, Local Exhaust Ventilation, PPE, Motor Vehicles and other Health and Safety programs.

  • -Provide technical EHS support to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations and P&W/UTC requirements

  • -Provide technical direction to line management including council subcommittee teams for effective execution of goals and objectives. -Assist management in the recognition and control of hazards and risks.

  • -Coordinate and conduct specialized Health and/or Safety audits and inspections of premises and operations in conjunction with others to monitor performance and assist the relevant line management to produce action plans to implement the necessary improvements

  • . -Conduct trend analysis for inspection/audits, injuries, spills, near hits and develop corrective/preventive actions to improve performance.

  • -Identify opportunities to successfully integrate EH&S programs/activities into overall business operations with a focus on management system integration.

  • -Assist line management with effective investigations and mistake proofing initiatives.

  • -Assist line management with the identification and immediate correction of unsafe conditions or practices to prevent adverse impacts to the organization and company.

  • -Coordinate internal and external reporting

  • . -Ensure that all training is conducted, assist as necessary.

  • -Provide response/guidance as a spill responder on a rotating schedule.

Qualification:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree is required in HSE, HS Engineering,HS Management or Industrial Health and Safety degree or related HSE field.

  • US Citizenship is required due to government contract.

  • 1 to 2 years minimum experience in EH&S compliance and EH&S Management Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in EHS preferred . Master's degree in Health and Safety Engineering, Management or related area of study with strong emphasis on compliance.

  • EHS certifications also preferred

  • Additional certifications, such as CSP, CIH.P.E. or CHMM, strongly desired

  • ​.Experience and knowledge in OSHA health and safety regulations as well as regulatory programs such as elevated work, lock out tag out (LOTO), machine guarding, industrial hygiene monitoring, confined space, ergonomics, risk assessment, etc

  • . •Continuous Improvement experience e.g. ACE, Six Sigma, LEAN etc. strongly desired\

  • Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Capable of working with a wide range of people from the site leader to shop floor and of providing team leadership when required to meet highly aggressive goals

  • Demonstrated knowledge in EH&S Regulatory and management systems, including compliance with all local/state/federal regulations in regards to health and safety programs

Education:

  • Bachelors degree is required in HSE, HS Engineering,HS Management or Industrial Health and Safety degree or related HSE field.
