The UTC Re-Empower Program is a return to work program that helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, improve leadership skills, and continue their professional journey.

The program consists of a 16-week comprehensive cohort assignment, which offers a rich and rewarding experience and mentorship for program participants transitioning back into the workforce after a 2+ year career break, for reasons such as childcare, eldercare, career path change, illness, retirement or other personal matters. Selected experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive mentoring to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the 16-week program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role.

Cohort II of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from September 5 – December 21, 2018.

To qualify for the UTC Re-Empower Program, candidates must meet both program and position requirements.

Program Qualifications:

Currently be on a break of at least two years or more

Have a minimum of five years of professional work experience

Have an interest in returning to work in a full-time position

Have an ability to attend the Re-Empower Program Orientation at UTC Headquarters in Farmington, CT on September 5-7, 2018

Job Summary:

Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is part of the Module Center Engineering organization at Pratt & Whitney. The Module Centers are a world-class engineering organization, aligned by component-level hardware in different sections of the jet engine. The four module centers work in tandem to deliver Pratt and Whitney’s trademark Dependable Engines. Pratt and Whitney Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is looking for highly motivated project engineers with Industrial gas turbine experience. Hot Section Engineering (HSE) is aligned by component-level hardware in different sections of the jet engine. Experienced project engineers will support an integrated product team (IPT) made up of designers, structures engineers, product modeling and drawing staff and system analysts. Project Engineers play a key technical role in all aspects of internal and external project engineering. This covers the overall coordination and leading of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to meet the technical, cost, and schedule requirements for throughout the life cycle of the product. Activities consist of coordinating design, fabrication, validation, and sustainment activities. Individual responsibilities include the leading a part team that reaches decisions necessary to achieve overall component goals within system requirements. Within the IPT framework, project engineers are tasked with managing a task, leading an IPT, planning budgets and schedules, developing new product, sustaining fielded engines, resolving manufacturing issues, managing budgets, and communicating all things related to tasks. Knowledge of EVMS is a plus. Level of Responsibility: Responsible for entire projects and significant components of other projects. Applies their knowledge to contribute to the team, department, and possibly the business unit Fully developed professional, able to work without direct guidance from others May develop and coach others Has in-depth knowledge of the discipline that may extend to similar fields.
