Our Core Structures Engineering team is in need of a senior Staff Engineer to help develop state-of-the-art high cycle fatigue (HCF) and low cycle fatigue (LCF) models and tools for use in evaluating the next generation of jet engine components. These tools will enable Structures Engineers across the company to develop lightweight, full life designs within the part development cycle.

You will have the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary and multi-organization teams to create innovative state-or-the-art tools that offer solutions to complex vibration problems for gaspath airfoils and multi-axial stress fields on rotor hardware.

You'll get to work closely with Module Center Structures practitioners on field issues and new designs to insure that our new tools and life systems are utilized. This role also involves automating the post processing of engine strain gage and performance data to create library of vibratory responses to be used in the development of a probabilistic Goodman Diagram approach to assess the vibratory response of jet engine blades and vanes. Also work on the development of Advanced LCF program which incorporates elastic plastic behavior, creep, and multi-axial fatigue into one life system. Develop usage based lifing model for commercial and military jet engine rotors.

Qualification:

Do you meet these Basic Qualifications?

  • You've obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Preferred fields of study are in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Science

  • US Citizen is required due to government contracts

  • You have at least 7 years of experience in structural engineering or mechanical design of turbofan engine components

How about any of these Preferred Qualifications?

  • Advanced degree in Materials Science, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience with gas turbine engine materials science, systems engineering and Pratt & Whitney's CIPT structures and MPE/AML departments is preferred

  • You have generated post process algorithms and performed stress and fatigue analysis of turbofan engines or components

  • You have a proven track record or leading multi-functional teams and projects with a background that includes working with ACE, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma or related Continuous Improvement tools with a proven track record of cost savings and continuous improvement accomplishments

  • You are comfortable working with Microsoft Office programs, SAP, Team Center and Solumina

  • Hands on experience with strong structured project management and dynamic problem solver with the ability to craft solutions to everyday challenges with creative new ideas

  • Familiarity with turbofan engines and airfoil/blade components preferred; Engineering experience a plus

Education:

  • You've obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Preferred fields of study are in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Science

  • Advanced degree preferred
