Description:

  • Develop strategic, customer-driven roadmaps and associated technology plans

  • Create and lead multidisciplinary projects with an aim to identify technology gaps and define value propositions that will feed directly into Pratt & Whitney technology development plans and standard work

  • Interact with UTRC and Pratt & Whitney senior management and communicate strategic vision and project accomplishments

  • Establish partnerships with a diverse set of Pratt & Whitney internal customers, including engineering, aftermarket, and operations

  • Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with outside research institutions and universities to build a strong network of capabilities that complement those within Pratt & Whitney and UTRC

  • Provide additional perspective by actively engaging external scientific and technical communities, and where appropriate represent UTRC on key scientific and research boards

  • Mentor UTRC individual contributors and principal investigators to assure technical discipline and rigor in project execution, and assist in developing technical skills in selected areas

Qualification: Preferred candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in several of the following disciplines in their graduate or post-graduate research:

  • aeroengine component/system durability estimation

  • thermal and structural analysis of aeroengine components

  • data mining and predictive analytics heat transfer, fluid dynamics, or combustion modeling and experimentation

5+ years experience in project management and relevant technical experience preferred.

Close familiarity with jet engines principles of operation required

Demonstrated ability to create winning proposals for external funding

Education: Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other relevant engineering field with 7+ years experience, or PhD in same engineering areas with 5+ years experience.
