The Mechanical Systems Everett Assembly Operations site assembles and provides customer service support for Boeing Commercial landing gear components. The scope of operations includes original equipment and spares gear assembly, factory and flight line customer support services, and processing of spares and aircraft-on-ground shipments. The integrated onsite support team includes Supply Chain, Materials Management, Quality, Engineering, Human Resources and Operations.

Reporting to the General Manager, Boeing Programs, the Site General Manager is responsible for leading the site of approximately 50 employees, contractors and support staff. The successful candidate will build a positive culture at the site and meet or exceed operational plans including safety, quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, cost, inventory and productivity.

The position is integral to the execution of the Boeing business plan and therefore is also responsible for facilitating strong integration with the program management organization including onsite customer support, sales, on-time delivery recovery plans, etc.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Meet customer service, quality, cost, and delivery performance targets.

  • Ensure site compliance to Export, Ethics, and EH&S policies and processes.

  • Foster and maintain a highly engaged workforce.

  • Effectively manage and maintain positive working relationship with represented workforce.

  • Champion the site culture and fosters a high-performance organization.

  • Apply lean operations principles across all functions to drive continuous improvement in business outcomes.

  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to achieve goals with timely and a cost-effective strategy.

  • Exercise judgment to make daily operational decisions and provides effective communication to senior leadership team.

  • <10% travel; relocation available.

  • Must be able to verify U.S. Person Status as defined by International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and ensures all quality related items for complex or medium sized sites are complete and documented to meet established quality standards.

  • Oversees cost reduction and process improvement for a complex or medium sized site to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.

  • Oversees scheduling for a complex or medium sized site to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of facilities.

  • Oversees sequencing of work such as build and delivery for a complex or medium sized site to ensure smooth operations and optimal use of resources.

  • Oversees and directs materials and logistics problem resolution for a complex or medium sized site to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations.

  • Determines and implements performance objectives and oversees performance and productivity for a complex or medium sized site.

  • Oversees production innovation, including additive manufacturing, for a complex or medium sized site to enhance production capabilities.

  • Acts as a strategic partner for customers to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of services.

  • Responsible for all or a major portion of processing operations in a plant.

  • Oversees production operations (shop floor management, workforce management, and flow disruption management), maintenance, plant engineering, scheduling and personnel.

  • Manages and supervises the work of manufacturing production disciplines in the Operations function.

  • Performs professional or management work regularly across multiple Manufacturing disciplines.

  • Includes activities that cannot be attributed to a defined Operations discipline.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, engineering, or another field.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years relevant experience and at least 3 years of formal leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Master’s degree in operations or industrial engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Aerospace experience.

  • SAP experience or similar ERP system.

  • Demonstrated experience in making sound business judgments.

  • Demonstrated success in operating across functional organizations, especially in a matrix organization, and achieving solid and repeatable results.

  • Ability to facilitate and manage with customers in an ambiguous environment.

  • Excellent executive presence.

  • Prior manufacturing experience required.

  • Experience in the application of Lean operations tools and principles.
