Position Summary

Carrier is seeking a lead mechanical engineer -or equivalent- to lead transformational and disruptive technology development for Carrier HVAC&R businesses. The position will be located in Farmington, CT, USA.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Work with senior leadership for create and maintain corporate roadmaps for advanced non-traditional systems to deliver HVAC&R functionality.

  • Create and use modeling and simulation tools leading to the evaluation of novel/disruptive HVAC&R systems

  • Design test rigs and experimental facilities leading to the evaluation of novel HVAC&R systems

  • Perform experimental work and experimental designs leading to the evaluation of novel HVAC&R systems

  • Ability to perform well working in teams and organize/lead teams, mentor team members

  • In the longer term, the candidate will be capable of directing the multidisciplinary team members and coordinating Carrier and non-Carrier team members

  • Demonstrated leadership in engaging internal and external customers is preferable. Business development experienced and networking is preferable.

  • Develop preliminary cost estimates and coordinate development of preliminary business case to determine project feasibility and priorities

  • Develop standard work for design and development of new technologies as part of technology transfer to technology team and business unit teams

  • Perform analytical and experimental analysis of flammability characteristics of materials for Carrier cooling and heating product.

Education:

  • BS, MS, PHD in Mechanical engineering –or related field- preferred. 10+ years of experience preferred.
