Every second, a plane takes off with UTC Aerospace Systems equipment onboard. UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) designs, manufactures and integrates nacelles, thrust reversers, pylons and flight control surfaces for commercial and military aircraft. The Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) facility in Foley, Alabama, performs final assembly of Thrust Reversers, Pylons, Inlet Cowls, Exhaust Nozzles, Wire Harnesses and performs Engine Build Up. Inventory Clerks are responsible for physical inventory movement supporting assembly operations. Inventory Clerks compile inputs and outputs in SAP from ordering, shipping and receiving materials and unload, receive and issue large aircraft components while working in a team environment. As an Inventory Clerk, you will label, stock, and retrieve parts in an accurate, timely manner and count, separate and deliver materials where needed. You will also review items that are received or ready for shipment and prepare accompanying documents to make ready for inspection and shipment. You will be contributing to the final assembly of these parts for our customers, thus helping UTC Aerospace Systems to maintain its standing as one of the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products.
Primary Responsibilities: In this role you will:
Open and verify supplier packing slips
Count parts and review for damage
Input updated inventory into databases
Prepare and verify requisition of stock items
Fill tilt bins, kanbans and stocks parts at Point of Use (POU)
Maintain awareness of production rates and part requirements
Update information to maintain accurate inventory records
Use lean manufacturing tools to improve processes
Issue planning documents to operators in a timely manner
Support Assemblers of large aircraft components
Perform other duties as required
At least 18 years of age or older.
Minimum years of experience and type of experience includes: 3+ years of inventory management experience OR
Associate’s Degree with 1 year inventory management experience
Preferred: SAP or ERP system experience
Continuous Improvement process experience
Read, write, speak and understand work instructions both verbal and written, perform basic math calculations and conduct self-inspection / audit.
Ability to work varying shifts, including but not limited to nights, weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as required.
Ability to maintain focus regarding safety, quality and productivity.
Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and others in a team environment displaying mutual trust and respect.
Ability to be regular and predictable in attendance.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Ability to bend, stoop, stand, kneel for 8+ hours per day and life 35+ pounds repetitively and up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and meet other physical requirements based on a medical screening following post offer.
Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and other PPE as needed for 8+ hours per day.
Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and comply with policies, applicable regulatory, safety and company rules and requirements, operating instructions, procedures and governmental regulations.
Demonstrate time, priority and stress management skills in a fast paced environment meeting deadlines while maintaining a customer-oriented demeanor.
Self-directed & action oriented with the ability to work with minimal supervision and resolve most questions and problems.
Basic knowledge of inventory processes such as parts flow, FIFO, JIT, kanbans, etc.
Basic office administration skills such as typing, copying and filing.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Willing to relocate to Foley, Alabama: no relocation or interview travel reimbursement available.
