Position will begin June 3, 2019 and will end no earlier than August 9, 2019 .

A stipend is offered to those who meet the eligibility requirements. Students are responsible for securing their own housing if needed.

Job Responsibilities:

You will benefit from working side by side with a talented and experienced group of professionals eager to mentor. Day to day activities can involve significant interaction with various functional groups such as Engineering, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain and Quality, allowing for additional broad learning opportunities.

As a Project Engineering Summer Intern at ISR & Space Systems , you will be supporting Project Engineering activities associated with installation, design, development, and qualification testing or field support of components for the Space Suit Extravehicular Mobility unit (EMU), the Universal Waste Management System (UWMS) for NASA’s Crew Exploration Vehicle, or life support assemblies on board NASA’s International Space Station.

Qualification: Required:

  • Must be enrolled as a full time student preceding and following the assignment

  • GPA of 3.0 or above is required at both the time of application and start date

  • Due to contract requirements, this position is only available to US Citizens

  • The selected candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per NASA's regulation subpart 1823.5 Drug-Free Workforce.

  • Knowledgeable in basic 3-D CAD modeling fundamentals (preferably Pro-E), stress and fatigue analysis, machine design, and material selection.

  • Ability to work within a matrix organization to achieve team and program goals.

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong Presentation Skills

  • Teamwork & Collaboration

Education: Candidate must be pursuing a degree in an ABET accredited institution in Aerospace, Mechanical, and/or Systems Engineering; other disciplines may be considered. In addition you must have completed a minimum of 24 college credits.
