The Sustaining Electrical Engineer evaluates, tests and documents electronic control and electronic component failures and substitutions. This candidate also works on design modifications and component qualifications and interfaces with the manufacturing division to resolve design issues. In addition, this candidate will work on cost savings opportunities in electronic control assemblies.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to express technical ideas both verbally and in writing

  • C and assembly code basic understanding

  • Schematic Capture Tool (ORCAD or equivalent)

  • Understanding of the Hardware development process

  • Work on multiple projects

  • Function on a team

  • Troubleshoot

  • Electrical component knowledge

  • Read and create schematics

  • Digital and Analog design experience

  • Embedded Microprocessor circuit experience

  • Experience in testing and debugging of electronic circuits and systems

  • Understand and write specifications (functional, design, test, etc.)

  • Experience with DVMs, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, ICEs, ESD/EMI/RFI test equipment

  • Clarify requirements with customers

  • Meet or exceed customer requirements set forth in specifications

  • Listen to, evaluate and respond to customer questions and issues

Qualification:

  • Ability to analyze design options for cost, quality and reliability trade-offs

  • Ability to follow the established engineering procedures and policies

  • Ability to participate in quality improvement initiatives

  • Ability to perform reliability evaluations of components using established procedures (FMEA, Stress Analysis, Failure Rate Analysis)

  • Work with Team Members to reduce PPM levels and to improve supplier quality

  • Provide assistance to other team members as well mentor and assist in the development of Entry Level employees, Co-ops and Technicians

Education: BS Engineering or BS EET
