AREA OF EXPERTISE:

Position’s primary responsibility is to plan, execute, and follow up on all LTL shipments and to support the Logistics Group in all day-to-day activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan/build outbound LTL and small parcel shipments. Assist with FTL shipments

  • Assist other departments with outbound shipments

  • Maintain and develop positive business relationships with key personnel involved in or directly relevant to logistics activity

  • Work with transport providers to maintain trailer pool and develop best shipment practices

  • Assist with all documentation and administration of outbound shipments using multiple software tools including Microsoft Excel

  • Assist Customer Service and customers with over/short and damaged freight

  • Assist Customer Service with expedited shipments

  • Utilize methods and procedures that facilitate achievement of department financial goals

  • Recommend changes in operational methods and procedures for improvement

  • Save freight dollars through improved routings

  • Analyze and improve carrier performance level

  • Participate in bid and proposal efforts

  • Assist with inbound receiving documentation

  • Other related duties as assigned by management. (YMS Database Administrator)

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Contributes to their team or department by applying their knowledge of one or more functional areas

  • Fully developed professional able to work without direct guidance or direction from others

  • Has in depth knowledge of the discipline and role

Qualification:

  • Prior experience in the Transportation Industry

  • Strong quality and customer satisfaction orientation

  • Previous experience using ERP software, ideally SAP – Sales to Cash module

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Capacity to communicate professionally in written and verbal format across a wide audience

  • Team oriented perspective; able to work well & contribute with other points of view

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to work in self-directed manner to identify needs of the organization and/or customer

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Superior organizational, follow-up and follow-through skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2-4+ years’ experience
