Carrier is seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineering Intern to work with a cross functional team development team to define the acceptable Factory Authorized replacement components that can be claimed under warranty per Bill of Material. The ideal candidate is excited by the prospect of working with a cross functional team to help simplify the supply chain and reduce warranty costs.

The candidate will have responsibility for the following in addition to adhoc assignments as needed.

  • Perform performance, cost and supply chain analysis of key components to determine which part numbers are acceptable as replacement components under warranty

  • Work with Engineering, Replacement Components, Quality and Supply chain to ensure all aspects of the system are being considered

  • Works effectively with various functions/disciplines

  • Demonstrates the ability to work within a project team

  • Develops comparison / decision matrix

  • Determine where within fault trees linkage to additional technical documentation, pictures and instructional videos are needed within the Service Tech Mobile Application

  • Create instructional aides needed in previous step

  • Work with Product Support Engineers, lab technicians and Technical Service Managers to ensure fault trees drive to the root cause of problems

  • Demonstrates the ability to work within a project team

  • Develops and executes test cases

  • Writes specifications and test plans

  • Participates in application inspections and reviews

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Responsible for small projects or multiple tasks within functional discipline

  • Makes significant contribution to their team by applying their knowledge of the discipline

  • Works with moderate guidance on projects with short-term focus

Qualification:

  • Understanding of Lean / Continuous Improvement

  • Understanding Root Cause Analysis

  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel

  • Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems (preferred)

  • Understanding of engineering principles and concepts (preferred)

  • Knowledge of SharePoint (preferred)

Education:

  • Expected degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • Completed classes equivalent to sophomore/junior year of college (preferred)
