As Lead Financial Analyst for UTC's Engineered Polymer Products business, you will apply cost accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare financial reports including month end close responsibilities and participate in continuous operational improvements.

You will also be responsible for key accounting functions, development of latest financial estimates, financial planning, variance to actual analysis, and as well as being a key financial advisor to the business and its constituents.

This position is the acting lead in cost accounting and forecasting and will require a keen understanding of U.S. GAAP.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide support for proper revenue recognition.

  • Lead and ensure a timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial close to include accurate and on-time delivery of all business unit deliverables.

  • Preparation and review of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations

  • Preparation, oversight and review of FP&A-related monthly forecasts and performance, annual business plans, overhead budgets and LE (Latest Estimate) updates.

  • Support monthly financial close and weekly operational performance reviews by articulating the “story” implied by the analytical findings

  • Provides financial and cost reporting in support of high visibility metrics such as senior leadership business reviews.

  • Perform site forecasting; budgeting and long-range planning functions in conjunction with the site Controller.

  • Partners with program and senior leadership in support of long-term financial strategy by constructing and analyzing financial models for various projects.

  • Ensure 100 percent compliance with all financial and business controls and adherence to all Sarbanes-Oxley requirements including documentation and testing of business controls; Government accounting requirements, DCMA / DCAA audits and reporting requirements, and UTC internal audits.

  • Formulates and leads process/system improvements through Continuous Improvement events, introducing new methods and approaches, establishing best practices, and managing standard work.

  • May be asked to lead a project team, or multiple smaller project teams, or leads a functional team, or unit in area of expertise.

  • 4+ years of accounting / finance experience which includes comprehensive financial statement and cash flow statement analysis including ...

  • Extensive use of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, etc., and

  • Very Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including charts, pivot tables, analytics, with ability to diagnose and reverse- engineer formulas and files

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to explain program complexities.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; detailed orientated individual with a strong focus on achieving results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • STRONG PREFERENCE for extensive Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion Financial Management

  • Experience with the SAP Business Intelligence suite (Business Objects, BEx Query Designer)

  • Understanding of government accounting: FAR, DFARS, CAS

  • Technical Accounting experience also preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance required

  • Master's degree and CPA or CPA track preferred
