Through the use of advanced metrology equipment and software, aid EPP in the product inspection, machine and mold setups to ensure correct part location and conformance to customer and internal requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Integrate advanced metrology methods into production processes, to ensure parts are in the correct location for machining/post processing and inspection activities.

  • Lead, Plan, Perform, Document and Improve our advanced metrology effort.

  • Deliver comprehensive, high-quality engineering solutions through the use of metrology software and equipment.

  • Help make manufacturing processes more efficient, productive, and cost-effective.

  • Use of Spatial Analyzer (SA) metrology software and with 3-D models for inspection, setup, and alignment, often in place of hard tooling.

  • Individual will work alongside the engineering and machining group to support continued production schedules.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Work with 3D Models (model-based definition), 2D drawings, specifications, and combinations thereof.

  • Candidate should be familiar with multiple instrument types, including using multiple instrument types in combination for one measurement job. The main instruments in use at EPP are laser trackers and portable CMM arms.

  • Candidate must have, and be able to demonstrate, practical skills in interpreting and inspecting to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Expert user of Spatial Analyzer software.

  • Familiarity with 3D CAD systems, preferably Solidworks or Catia. Candidate should be able to perform at least some low-level CAD work in support of Spatial Analyzer.

  • Ability to efficiently evaluate, understand and improve part shape or alignment.

  • Candidate must have, or be capable of obtaining, a US Government clearance at Secret Level

  • Nothing matters more to UTC Aerospace Systems than our strong ethical and safety commitments. As such, all U.S. positions require a background check, which may include a drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 year of experience in the use of CMM type equipment and Spatial Analyzer software

Spatial Analyzer-specific skills:

  • The use of USMN (Unified Spatial Metrology Network).

  • Alignment to a known coordinate system or model, using a variety of techniques.

  • Relationships and Relationship fitting.

  • SA's GD&T module, and also using "manual" methods, such as Relationship Fitting.

Working Environment:

  • Travel 5-10%

  • Job responsibilities may require to work overtime or non-standard hours to support production schedule

  • Duties will require the candidate to be on the shop floor

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical field required
