This is a Repair Design Engineer (RDE) position is with the Composites Group within the Global Services Engineering (GSE) Commercial repair group.

  • The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs for commercial gas turbine engine parts, and including development of the repair concept, writing of the repair, obtaining internal approvals, obtaining FAA regulatory approval, and coordination with the end user.

  • Manage the project through a multi-discipline team to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements.

  • Research operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service. •Invent new methods to repair damaged parts, set-up test criteria, and document the final method. Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs.

  • Interface with commercial product line management (PLM) to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues.

  • Support the Customer in the resolution of field supportability issues.

  • Ensure repair tasks are completed to schedule and on budget.

Qualification: Basic Qualifications:

US Citizenship or Green Card is required due to export controls. Ability to stand and sit for over an hour.

Fluent in English

  • Detail oriented Experience Requirements: MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Lync Experience in the use of Unigraphics/NX or similar CAD application. Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, heat treatment, wet laminating, adhesive bonding or curing. Read and Understand Blueprints Experience Preferences: 1 year in engineering, drafting, or mechanical repair.

  • Exposure to cost and schedule management or team leadership. Experience with manufacturing processes such as composite prepreg bagging, reticulating honeycomb, plasma spray, welding, or painting is also a plus. Design using GD&T (Geometric Design and Tolerance).

Education:

BS in Engineering from an accredited university Education preferences: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering
