The Product Delivery Center (PDC) International Operation is seeking a highly-motivated and capable individual to be Assembly Manufacturing and Production Process Engineer in support of Military Engine JSF-F135 Programs at the FACO (Foreign Assembly and Check Out) site IHI, Mizuho, Japan.

As the Assembly Manufacturing Process Engineer, your responsibilities include:

  • Drive design-for-assembly/manufacturability (DFA/DFM) and module/part-family assembly process standard initiatives, working closely with Systems Engineering Teams and CIPTs/Module Centers, Mechanics, Quality Engineers/Inspectors, Engine Program Management Offices, and Foreign-Partners.

  • Create and maintain prescriptive production engine assembly floor specifications (AFSs) / work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, quality assurance /process control documents and tooling definition/requirements.)

  • You provide focused & effective leadership in eliminating EH&S/Ergonomics/Human Factors risks and addressing quality issues.

  • You identify & implement shop floor process optimization & control methods to eliminate/prevent process turn-backs /escapes and continuously reduce overall assembly costs.

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement initiatives supporting the achievement of ACE GOLD STATUS in the Engine Assembly Center.

  • Provide cross functional leadership and work directly with all levels of staff from the production floor to senior leadership to ensure products meet all necessary quality standards while still maintaining program milestones

  • You will perform research and perform rework activities (Coating repair) in support of expediting engine assembly regarding technical and or material/metallurgical issues related to quality, operations, and processes

  • Significant interaction with the hourly work force (mechanics, inspectors, operators), tool designers, quality engineers & quality assurance personnel, integrated product teams, systems & module designers, information systems personnel and program assembly partners are typical of the position.

  • A high level of proficiency and working-knowledge of ACE/Continuous Improvement Tools is required including Process Certification & Management, Value-Stream Mapping (VSM), Standard Work, QCPC/Root-Cause Analysis and Set-Up Reduction/Mistake-Proofing

  • This position will be located at the FACO (Foreign Assembly and Check Out) site IHI, Mizuho, Japan.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment

  • US citizenship is required due to government program requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering

  • 5+ years manufacturing/assembly engineering experience, engine system-level knowledge, and engine test processes are highly-desirable for this position.

  • Excellent communication / presentation skills

  • Strong project engineering/planning skills.

  • Effective decision-making skills

  • Ability to Multitask
