Job Title And Description
Det-Tronics is looking an experienced, detail oriented Senior Logistics/HazMat Coordinator to provide expertise and guidance on inbound and outbound shipping, especially in regards to Hazardous Materials, special or difficult shipments, third party Shipping and Logistics software, and working with Finance on processing invoices.
Must have a strong knowledge base in DOT, IATA, and IMDG hazardous materials regulations for classification, packaging, marking, labeling and documentation of dangerous goods
Maintain company Hazardous Products List for Shipping and Logistics to access supporting documentation including SDS’s
Manage HazMat Training Program (DOT, IATA, IMDG, etc.) for all required employees, including for new hires and for refresher training. Maintain records and documentation and create or revise training as required
When required, identify and develop solutions for products that require UN Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) to enable shipment of the goods domestically or internationally
Ensure interplant truck and drivers are in compliance of all local, state, and federal laws under the DOT Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and maintain Driver Qualification Files. Complete renewals and updates as necessary
Responsible for annual renewal of facility HazMat registration and ChemTrec 24 hour emergency response phone number for Det-Tronics
Work with third party forwarders, logistics companies, and export crating companies to develop a plan for and get quotes for special shipments (inbound and outbound)
Create and maintain Freight Routing Guide for optimal shipping instructions, and ensure compliance by reviewing the non-conforming shipments
Work with Carrier Corporation Logistics Management team to provide Det-Tronics freight data for small parcel, LTL, domestic HWA and freight forwarder air/ocean during bid processes.
Work with Procurement on optimizing inbound freight
Help Logistics team process shipments as time allows or when they are busy/shorthanded
Review, code, and approve freight invoices from carriers, forwarders, and third party processors
Work with Finance to answer questions and/or review logistics related invoices
Provide Finance with weekly and monthly reports on Duties paid
Complete monthly inbound China/Taiwan raw material in-transit report
Stay current on all Incoterms related changes and communicate to/train all necessary groups
Maintain logistics related data in the shipping (Varsity) and ERP (JDE) programs
Work with freight companies and IT to setup and optimize third party shipping software such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc, for the Shipping and Logistics teams
Manage subscriptions/renewals for publications and hazmat software that provide necessary regulations and updates (CFR 49, Journal of HazMat Transportation, IATA DG Regulations, IMDG Regulations, Dangerous Goods Information System (DGIS), etc.), review what applies to our business, and ensure compliance with these regulations
Experience in export and import regulations and ACE AES EEI filings would be helpful
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS:
- Four year degree, or High School Diploma/GED plus 10 years relevant experience
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years experience in inbound/outbound domestic and international Logistics
Clear understanding of Logistics HazMat rules (DOT, IATA, IMDG, etc)
Must be detail and process oriented
Need to be able to read agency/government regulations and translate them into simple, trainable processes
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an open attitude for continuous improvement. Ability to perform under stress and meet project timelines, to work cooperatively and respectfully with others, to lead others using project planning skills and documentation. Must be able to perform essential job functions safely and work within established company guidelines.
