The Landing System division of UTC Aerospace has an opportunity for an Aviation Tech. This selected individual will perform bushings installations, swaging, and light machine work (mill/lathe) on landing gear components, in accordance with approved technical data to ensure compliance with required standards. The selected candidate may need to train on 1st shift for specified amount of time, as determined by supervision. This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install bushings, bearings, sleeves, and metal shims on all aircraft programs according to the overhaul manual specifications, using machinery and hydraulic presses. Utilize close tolerance measuring instruments to assure compliance with CMM specifications.

  • Operate honing machinery and devices, including mill machinery for swaging of bearings. Utilize close tolerance measuring instruments to assure compliance with CMM specifications.

  • Perform final inspection and stocking of bushings.

  • Train employees on all required processes within the department, and lead the team and operations in the department in the absence of the Group Leader when required

  • Execute bush bore functions utilizing light machining. (Lathe/bush work)

Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years’ experience as an mechanical operations.

  • Experience in honing or turret lathe operation is a plus.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints

  • Ability to use all necessary close tolerance measurement instruments with proficiency

  • Basic computer skills.

Education: Education / Certifications

High School Diploma, or equivalent
