Primary responsibility of this positon is to support the Otis Americas organization in ensuring a strong ethics and compliance culture throughout the organization and in close coordination with the Otis World Headquarters ethics and compliance team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and training of local ethics and compliance officers (LECOs);

  • Data gathering and coordination with LECOs on various periodic reports such as significant case reports, semi-annual compliance reviews, trade association participation and compliance, and approval requests and resolutions;

  • Track ethics training and recognition for ethical behavior;

  • Serve as an interpretive resource to management and other employees regarding ethics and compliance issues, specifically to include interpretation of the UTC Code of Ethics and UTC Policies;

  • Coordinate and oversee distribution of the Code of Ethics and the implementation of adequate training/educational programs on Global Ethics & Compliance to all levels of management and employees;

  • Share information with LECOs, management and the functional disciplines (as appropriate), regarding trends and risk areas associated with compliance and ethics;

  • Support enterprise risk assessments and mitigation activities;

  • Investigate alleged violations of the Code of Ethics (either personally or through others) competently and with appropriate independence, utilizing other internal or external resources when appropriate;

  • Participate in the review process for significant Code of Ethics violations, in consultation and coordination with the Human Resources Department, the Legal Department and others in senior management;

  • Oversee and work to enhance the professionalism of LECOs in all aspects of their responsibilities;

  • Seek continuous improvement and use ACE tools to analyze past events (including root causes) in order to improve systems and controls;

  • Perform to a standard of excellence, setting a personal example of exemplary conduct.

  • The ability to work independently, prioritize issues and ensure the successful completion of short and long-term projects to the satisfaction of clients is essential

Qualification:

  • At least three years of experience working in a corporate legal department and/or compliance role

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills supported by strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented

  • High energy, self-starter and strong team player that is comfortable working independently within a large corporation

  • Proficiency in office skills required: typing, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to conduct presentations to large audiences, as well as to executive and senior management teams

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Master’s degree preferred
