The Quality Manager serves as the representative in matters pertaining to the quality department staff consisting of inspection, quality analyst and quality engineering personnel. The Quality Manager ensures customer and regulatory quality requirements are met and the highest levels of product quality and customer satisfaction are achieved. The Quality Manager may be required to interface directly with outside customers, third party representatives, regulatory agencies and internal operations to ensure that UTAS quality system is appropriately implemented and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage, facilitate, and coordinate quality assurance and quality control staff activities such as; internal audit, material review, corrective/preventive action, calibration, receiving, in-process, and final inspection

  • Report on the performance of the quality staff activities at periodic reviews

  • Champion defect zero methodology, ensuring UTAS customer receive defect-free products

  • Systematically reduce Cost of Poor Quality across the site

  • Ensure essential Quality Management System policies and procedures are consistently implemented

  • Provide the necessary resources to ensure personnel are trained to allow for the effectiveness of the quality system through internal audits, inspection and test

  • Perform and report internal audit surveillance

  • Develop and implement use of advanced monitoring techniques

  • Develop and maintain department quality metrics

  • Ability to work effectively and influence others in a diverse and dynamic work environment,

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with strong competencies in applying

  • Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, proven project management skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to understand, interpret and easily communicate quality policies and practices

  • Success in driving change initiatives in manufacturing and operations environments

Qualification:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR’s)

  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO9000, AS9100 Etc.)

  • Knowledge of Aerospace Customer Requirements

  • Knowledge of Quality System Auditing

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Business Management or a related field from an accredited University with hands-on experience in the Quality function with 5 plus years of experience

  • Possession of a Masters’ degree with 4 plus years of experience
