This position entry-level Mechanical Engineer. Participates in product development activities, executes tests, and produces parts, designs, or sketches, following all appropriate Mechanical Engineering design, safety, and qualification standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design and development of ram air turbines (RATs) for aerospace applications.

  • The work includes hardware analysis, manufacturing support, mechanical design and engineering development and qualification testing.

  • Investigate electromechanical and hydromechanical hardware failures to determine the root cause.

  • Participate in product development activities including cost estimates, implementation of standard specifications, drawing board layout, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.

  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs

  • Test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess operating condition effects.

  • Produce parts, designs, or sketches for machines, components, systems or work orders / purchase requests

  • Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.

  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

  • May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

  • May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.

Education:

  • Applications accepted from candidates who hold or will obtain a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Aerospace, Engineering Mechanics or related field by June 2019

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have an interest in mechanical rotating hardware analysis but also enjoy working /resolving hardware manufacturing and test related issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior UTC COOP/internship or fulltime experience.

  • Background in mechanical design and analytical tools.

  • Experience in performing product and component development and qualification (including performance and environmental) testing.

  • Understanding of electric machines and rotating mechanical hardware construction.

  • The position requires self-motivation, resourcefulness, good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment with support organizations.
