The ISR Space Systems team in Rockford, IL are seeking candidates will have a strong electrical and mechanical background, the ability to create, modify and repair electrical/electronic assemblies, harnesses; ability to build from print, and be proficient in fabrication and soldering.

The successful candidate will work well with others, will interface with program key personnel, EH&S, auditors and other labs, and will have a thorough understanding of process improvement (ACE) and campus EH&S policy.

Job duties entail maintaining a safe and organized lab environment, assisting programs with development, test and repair of hardware, successfully passing 1st and 2nd party audits, assigning work space to lab users, providing access to new users, performing monthly 5-S and EH&S safety audits, mentoring co-ops and interns, performing safety test readiness reviews, setting up various types of test equipment, and providing a weekly status to management.

Qualification:

Own a lab and be responsible for the maintenance of test equipment, life test racks, environmental chambers, and general lab test equipment.

  • Understanding and ability to operate Oscilloscopes, DAQ Systems, DMM’s, function generators, HMI’s, PLC’s, high speed digital recorders, analog trace recorders, and other laboratory equipment a must.

  • Read and create electronics and electrical schematics as well as panel/enclosure layouts due to advanced understanding of standard electronics and electrical symbology.

  • Build/solder circuits and electrical test set ups to print with electronic and electrical components. J-STD-001 certification preferred.

  • Read mechanical drawings and create light to medium mechanical assemblies, test fixtures, or frames.

  • Build a wide variety of electrical harnessing for test equipment and research and development applications. NASA standards 8739.3 and 8739.4 certification a plus.

  • Ability to program in Labview or code in other test software packages a plus.

  • Understanding and experience with motor and motor circuit installations and applications.

  • Knowledge of equipment communications standards including 1553, CAN Bus, RS232, 429.

  • Familiarity with the NEC code, Arc Flash and LOTO as well as experience with DC voltage, high amperage and AC voltage, high amperage circuit applications.

  • Experience with Job Hazard Analysis and Protection of Electrical and Electronic Parts, Assemblies and Equipment per ANSI STD 20.20.

  • Plan, build, test, code, and debug simple and complex electromechanical test platforms and equipment.

  • Previous test lab management experience a plus.

  • Good writing and communications skills are a must.

Education:

Associate of Science in EET degree w/10-17+ years’ experience

Bachelor of Science in EET degree w/6-12+ years’ experience
