The Power Transmissions System division of UTAS in Rome, NY is looking for a Quality Engineer. This individual will be responsible for performing moderately complex quality engineering and assurance activities to support customers, suppliers, and product development and production. Additional responsibilities include: • Evaluates non-conformances and works to determine root cause and corrective actions. • Serves as primary customer contact in external quality activities by resolving customer complaints, non-conformance evaluations, and coordinating customer audits. • Responsible for modifying internal processes to ensure customer satisfaction. • Facilitates Product Integrity meetings, maintains appropriate documentation and serves as the liaison between UTAS and the customer. • Supports production employees, inspection staff, and cell staff by evaluating, interpreting, and providing feedback regarding customer and company requirements and specifications. • Ensures production compliance with UTAS and customer requirements by reviewing customer purchase orders, manufacturing build plans, developing inspection plans (i.e. process drawings, gages, develop tooling, etc.), and designing tools for nondestructive part inspections (i.e. pressure testing). • Completes Material Review Board (MRB) disposition on production non-conformances to ensure compliance with UTC Aerospace Systems and customer requirements utilizing knowledge, continuous improvement tools, engineering resources, and assistance of more experienced engineers. • Plans, organizes, and leads general to moderately complex quality engineering projects. • Analyzes cell Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) trends and determines root cause utilizing appropriate Continuous Improvement (CI) or Lean Tools including: Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), Causal Relationships, Regression Analysis. • Assists product and process engineers in the development of new or improved processes that minimize scrap and rework and meet technical guidelines and business requirements • Supports new product development efforts by being a collaborating integrated product team member that works within the tollgate system. • Contributes to design, manufacturing engineering, and production discussion to ensure design for manufacture, build in quality, etc. is incorporated from product inception. • Leads risk management activities such as, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), key characteristic definition and inspection, internal and external first article, etc.

Education and Certifications:BA/BS degree with 2-4+ years' experience MA/MS degree with 1-3+ years' experience
