The North Subregion Region of Otis Elevator Company is searching for a highly motivated entry level Mechanical / Product Survey Specialist, Modernization Projects. This entry-level position will collaborate with our local branch teams across the Northwest to assist our various offices to review technical elevator product specifications on installation job sites and deliver innovative approaches in identify product design, project scope and operational efficiencies,/work needed while providing Otis product solutions for projects. This position requires person will be involved in pre-sales, on-site technical/mechanical product surveys and supporting post-sale technical product and parts ordering, as well as operational mechanical product support across multiple various branch offices located in multiple in various states. The position will be based out of Seattle, Washington.

Job Responsibilities

The Candidate will be required to actively participate in field surveys for prospective and active modernization projects, providing information to key post-sale project leaders and superintendents. The Candidate will have technical aptitude to establish familiarity and knowledge of mechanical aspects of elevator equipment/parts and work in conjunction with Superintendents to determine the scope of work required, review technical product specifications, project scope, deliverables and to address efficiencies with the elevator product technical performance.

This role requires a high degree of interaction with Otis sales, field, and manufacturing personnel, as well as interaction with vendors, customers and consultants external to Otis. The Candidate in this role will support a positive and innovative climate for development, referring to best demonstrated practice when collaborating with field teams in the understanding of the elevator installation design and plan.

  • Assisting in surveying job sites to provide information to estimators with potential post-sale ordering of projects

  • Working with Superintendents to understand a proposed solution and introduce an installation plan.

  • Design solutions that provide the best method of installation and providing our teams with the highest level of safety during installation.

  • Ability to coordinate daily activities with the branchs’ project managers and superintendents.

  • Must have strong communication skills to work with general contractors, owner’s agency and developers for various projects.

  • Improving efficiencies by assisting teams in the understanding of the installation design and plan

  • Providing technical support and communicate clearly the needs of the project.

  • Provide CAD drawings (either update or create) of proposed changes needed to inform others.

Qualification:

  • Candidates must have strong computer program familiarity, CAD drawing and visualization skills.

  • Ability to travel 40% of time within the North sub-region to include; Minneapolis, MN; Des Moines, IA; Fargo, ND; Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Spokane, WA; and Anchorage, AK.

  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in a highly team-oriented and dynamic environment. Must have strong, collaborative communication skills to work with general contractors, owner’s agency and developers for multiple various projects.

  • Ability to work independently; self-motivated, overseeing several simultaneous projects. Ability to coordinate daily activities with the branches’ project managers and superintendents.

  • A basic understanding of Technical aptitude of mechanical machinery

  • Ability to survey jobs in confined spaces – i.e. elevator hoistways, machine rooms.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
