Ability to lead site as well as regional level EH&S requirements, initiatives and projects associated with solving EH&S business related issues. Potential to lead and drive multi-functional teams to support current as well as future growth plans within the region.

Job Description/Level of Responsibility:

  • Liaison between all EH&S activities with site leadership, value stream managers, regional and corporate office.

  • Coordinate all local EH&S programs and regional assignments.

  • Assess EH&S conditions, report to senior management on EH&S performance, and to consult and advise senior management of recommendations for improvement, including appropriate prevention and control strategies.

  • Work with management committee to develop and implement company EH&S policies, management system and programs.

  • Provide guidance on corporate EH&S policies, directions and strategies to the management committee.

  • Set up and monitor progress of EH&S and assist management committee to develop EH&S plans.

  • Analyze trends and report to senior management and to the corporation on progress of goals/targets and objectives.

  • Actively engage line organization in the implementation of EH&S programs through providing support on communication, training, assessment and control of hazards and risks.

  • Review current and proposed legislation, advise management committee to integrate legal and other requirements into the operations to ensure compliance.

  • Review and assist management committee in activities related to planning, design and modifications of materials, processes, operations or building layouts.

  • Develop and manage incident investigation, inspection and audit programs; identify root causes of deficiencies and assist management committee in the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.

  • Coordinate and facilitate EH&S program evaluation and management review.

  • Evaluate assessments performed and control measures proposed or implemented to ensure that recommendations are appropriate.

  • Implement a process that ensure EH&S compliance issues are effectively managed to closure by the management committee.

  • Develop a strategy for management committee to implement and mitigate EH&S risks associate with all contractor activities.

  • Work closely with corporate integrated facilities management vendor on general maintenance of all facilities systems related to building, inclusive of control, electrical, air-conditioning, mechanical ventilations, fire protection and security systems

  • Any other duties that may be assigned with respect to EH&S and Facility related issues

Skills Requirements:

  • Tertiary level qualifications in Environment, Health & Safety and/or other relevant discipline combined with tertiary level qualifications.

  • Strong knowledge in EH&S practices & local EH&S statutory regulations

  • Must be a registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) and Fire Safety Manager (FSM)

  • With at least 5 years’ experience in similar capacity in the aerospace or manufacturing environment

  • Ability to engage, communicate, build credibility, lead change and influence operational management

  • Proven ability to drive results in a demanding work environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft computer application skills

  • ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 knowledge preferred
