Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all job functions of waste water treatment, which include job planning for WWTP Technician and external support services.

  • Test, monitor and record performance of treatment system and effluent waste water through a variety of measuring devices and other related equipment.

  • Risk Management of the WWTP

  • Carry out preventive maintenance on all equipment and maintain records.

  • Review, modify or create new standard work and operational procedures.

  • Train personnel on waste water treatment and hazardous material handing operations

  • Perform area EH&S self audits and facilitate 2nd or 3rd party WWTP audit.

  • Identify and order critical spares , chemicals and supplies

  • Improve processes and solve problems relating to waste water treatment

  • Perform annual Internal audit for waste water treatment plants in Bedok and Changi

  • Troubleshoot Waste Water Treatment Issues

  • Collect, trend and analyze WWTP data

  • Comply with local, UTAS and UTC requirements to physical site conditions

  • Perform NEA required waste reporting

  • Carry out minor corrective maintenance for faulty equipment

Area of Focus:

  • Knowledge of: operation and maintenance of onsite wastewater treatment facilities; wastewater treatment processes, chemical characteristics and standard method of sampling and analysis of water; occupational hazards and standard precautions and emergency response necessary in a wastewater treatment facility.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training and performance evaluation. Responsible for performing a risk assessment of work activities, taking corrective and preventive actions

Area of Expertise;

  • Competent in operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment method and system including pumps, neutralisation, hexavalent chromium reduction, ultrafiltration, carbon filtration, ion exchange, vacuum distillation, ultraviolet disinfection, acid/alkaline and cyanide scrubbers.

  • Able to plan, direct, schedule and supervise employees or contractors in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant; maintain surveillance of the operating efficiency of the primary treatment, and a large scale zero liquid discharge treatment system; maintain records and prepare reports regarding the operation of the plant and quality of the effluent; suggest methods to improve plant efficiency; supervise plant laboratory activity pertaining to wastewater analysis;

  • Utilise supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) to analyse data in maintaining quality control of plant processes;

  • Order supplies and materials; prepare cost estimates; assist in development of equipment specification; assist in budget preparation and administration;

  • Able to train subordinates; respond to emergencies on an on-call 24 hours /7 days per week.

  • Minimum ACE Associate certification under ACP

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering/Chemistry/Environmental Engineering discipline. Diploma holders with relevant waste water treatment are also eligible.

  • Certificate of competency in waste water treatment is preferred.

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience preferably in a similar function

  • Good knowledge of safe handling procedures of hazardous substances

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work

  • Knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office

  • Able to work 2 rotating shifts
