Pratt & Whitney PSD provides the aviation industry with unique capabilities for specialized repair of gas turbine engine cases and components. Pratt & Whitney's case repair business located in Springdale, AR is looking for a Quality Manager to lead the Quality Assurance/Inspection department, which includes a team of 5 Quality Supervisors/Engineers leading a team of 40 hourly, non-exempt inspectors.

This position collaborates with the site's General Manager and is responsible for the following:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the team of Quality Supervisors/Engineers and shop quality employees regarding the planning, direction, organization and control of all part inspection functions for the business.

  • Lead by example and exhibit and foster behaviors that conform to the highest levels of business integrity

  • Ensure company and customer compliance, regulatory compliance and other procedures and requirements

  • Drive the tactical execution of the Quality Management System (AS 9110 rev C)

  • This is a leadership role that requires integration and collaboration with leadership team and General Manager

  • Establish procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability and safety. Organize and promote quality improvement efforts. Implement and help maintain the site Quality Management System in accordance with current quality standards, reporting on the performance of the quality system for review and as a foundation for improvement.

  • Support the development, implementation and continuous improvement of inspection procedures and technologies.

  • Lead the quality organization to robust programs including inspection, records and site audits such as FAA, CAAC, EASA compliance and customer requirements.

  • Drive safety as a number 1 priority. Participate in major site activities including EH&S and ACE continuous improvement committees.

  • Lead the quality inspection teams through direct reports to ensure product and process compliance by providing guidance and direction regarding quality systems and requirements.

  • Direct day to day quality and production deliverables and initiatives to include prioritization and completion of parts throughout the value stream.

  • Drive product and process improvements that ensure the site's quality metric goals are met (escapes, scrap, rework, QCPC, Process Certification).

  • Focus on communication, training, teamwork, management practices and employee respect to foster a diverse culture of engaged and committed employees.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 5+ years of experience working in quality assurance, quality engineering, supplier quality, quality manager, and/or operations management and 3 or more years of experience managing/leading direct reports required.

  • Demonstrated strong product quality experience and have led organizations within a related or similar process/model (i.e. auto industry)

  • Proven ability in managing Quality Management Systems

  • Proven track record of accomplishments in cost savings and improvement initiatives

  • Executive presentation, communication skills and savvy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of graduate degree or MBA program preferred

  • Solid understanding of conventional Quality related inspection, NDT inspection, CMM, Metallurgy and Calibration Labs, receiving inspection and other machine shop inspection processes and procedures

  • Your background includes working closely with continuous improvement processes, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma or related tools and metrics

  • Developed and managed Total Quality Management tools and supplier Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • SAP experience

  • ERP experience

  • Familiarity with turbofan engines and components

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, related technical field and/or Business required
