This position manages a small plant/branch or a department that includes multiple teams led by managers and/or supervisors in Materials Planning and SIOP. Owns and develops critical strategic and short to medium-term operational goals including storing and shipping products, activity planning, responding to highly complex inquiries, and ensuring the highest quality of work. Leads in the implementation of inventory control reports and manuals.

The Associate Director Materials Management shall be responsible for the development, documentation, communication and deployment of standard, best practice Materials Management policies, processes and procedures across all Landing Systems sites. Specifically, the Associate Director Materials Management shall be responsible Master Scheduling, Capacity Planning, Production Control, Logistics and support of the SIOP process. In addition, this position shall be responsible for ensuring such policies and procedures are implemented and maintained in a consistent and standardized approach as well as ensure that all projects are implemented, by site, per agreed upon roll-out plan / schedule. In addition, this position will be responsible for participating in the identification and prioritization of new policies, procedures and/or tools that the company may direct and/or request feedback on.

The Associate Director Materials Management shall also be responsible for the initial development of all Materials Management training within their area of responsibility as well as on-going required training and coaching to empower the site Materials Managers to successfully implement standard policies, procedures and projects. This initial and on-going training will ensure the objective of continually improving the Materials Management organization across all sites as well as meeting senior leadership’s goals and objectives.

The Associate Director Materials Management shall be required to develop, maintain, measure and track Central Landing Systems and site Materials Management initiatives to include but not limited to Lineback Logistics, inventory reduction, adherence to SIOP procedures, and adherence to and improvement of any standard tools.

The Associate Director Materials Management shall be responsible for implementing, tracking, measuring and reporting all required site and Landing Systems key performance metrics. In addition, the Materials Manager shall develop standard root cause / corrective analysis tools, ensure training of tools at each site as well as provide any on-going coaching that may be required for both root cause analysis and generation of mitigation plans for metrics that are not meeting target.

Additional responsibilities include driving change in process, policies, procedures and tools with Continuous Improvement to meet expected company financial and process metrics, goals and objectives.

This role is a high-profile position and requires skilled management of projects and the ability to develop collaborative relationships between all Collins Aerospace sites and Corporate Leadership during to ensure intersecting functional areas understand and support the required interface to the Materials Management function.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all other site level SJIs are developed and implemented to support company standard procedures and or local procedures

  • Ensure standard policies, processes and procedures are developed, documented and deployed, by site, to establish standards across all Landing Systems sites for Materials Management functional areas of responsibility

  • Ensure standard company Master Scheduling policies, processes and procedures are adhered to, by site, with the goal of each site recognizing the importance of master scheduling and is reflected in the organization and communicated with a focus on delivery and inventory control

  • Ensure company capacity planning policies, procedures, tools, reporting requirements and on-going analysis are adhered to, by site, in support of customer demand and forecast

  • Ensure standard company Weekly Scheduling Meeting policies procedures are adhered to by site

  • Ensure standard company ramp up/down policies and procedures are adhered to and analysis conducted, based on capacity availability, in a timely manner to support Engineering changes with a goal of minimizing obsolete and slow-moving material

  • Ensure standard company inbound/outbound policies and procedures are adhered to, as required

  • Ensure standard company Receiving and Shipping policies and procedures are adhered to, by site, in support of customer requirements

  • Ensure standard company audit results are reviewed and action plans established to improve are developed with site Materials Managers, track and report progress

  • Track and report key site and rolled up performance indicators and proactively identify appropriate actions to close gaps and to drive continuous improvement

Qualifications:

  • Support achievement of ACE Gold activities, as required

  • A minimum of 8 years of Materials Management expertise in a manufacturing industry

  • Execute all tasks associated with the site macro plan objectives and site business plan, as required

  • Ensure training plans and materials are developed and implemented with on-going training and coaching provided as required

  • Initiate, lead, and / or participate in site level activities to include 5S, Kaizen, DIVE events, Six Sigma, and other related continuous improvement events as well as prioritize site level events

  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the EHS policy and management system, the importance of conforming to EHS policies and procedures and consequences of failing to comply with EHS policies and procedures

  • Continuously drive a Lean culture within the Materials Organization

  • Provide input to and maintain final approved department budgets

  • Requires a working knowledge of basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Software (i.e. Excel, Word, Access, Visio etc.) was well as Business Intelligence Software or the ability to attain such skills.

  • Working knowledge and ERP experience

  • Proficient problem solving ability and attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication, team building skills, and ability to lead cross functionally

  • Ability to both communicate and present at the highest levels of the organization

  • Ability to travel 40% of the time

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree. in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or other related field.

Preferred:

MBA

APICS Certification preferred (CPIM, CSCP)

(SAP is preferred) to include MRO/Materials and Supply Chain
