Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Commercial Program Quality, you will drive quality improvement in support of customer and internal initiatives. As the Program Quality Engineer, you will support all requirements relative to the quality of components, sub-systems, and product-related services provided for wheels and brakes programs.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Lead cross-functional quality investigations, utilizing structured tools and driving an aligned outcome in a timely manner

  • Interrogate technical details of quality rejections and communicate action planning as appropriate to all levels of the organization

  • Perform customer interface and manage flow down of customer requirements

  • Create quality documents & support the development & post-development phases of the program

  • Drive quality performance in support of UTAS and external customer goals and objectives

  • Liaise with the internal/external organizations/customers on quality issues

  • Collect and analyze data, and generate technical reports and presentations

  • Support and maintain the implementation of PPAP and key characteristics in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering groups

  • Coach Integrated Product Team (IPT), Operations and Supply Chain to improve quality levels on difficult to manufacture designs

  • Coordinate all Quality requirements as they relate to the program

  • Generate and maintain driver metrics and provide input to internal and customer meetings (CAB, Program Review, Quality Review, etc)

Qualification:

  • Minimum 5 years of related quality engineering experience.

  • Has implemented, maintained and/or improved APQP or PPAP processes

  • Good understanding of design and machining / manufacturing methods with the ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings

  • ASQ CQE certification, preferred.

  • Strong Six Sigma/Lean deployment and process improvement experience (Black belt preferred)

  • Excellent working knowledge of ISO / AS9000 standard, SPC, structured problem solving tools (8D, fault tree, etc.)

  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills requiring minimal supervision

  • Proven leadership ability in order to drive timely resolution of quality concerns, requiring minimal supervision.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and SAP software programs

  • Superior communication skills and command of the English language, with an aptitude for conveying complex technical information to a wide variety of audiences

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and project management experience

  • Ability to influence and gain buy-in in order to drive on-time implementation of initiatives

  • Strong ability to make quality decisions while remaining customer focused

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Technical discipline, or

  • Advanced Degree from and Accredited Institution with 3+ years relevant experience
