Owns the execution of Quality Engineering operational goals and plans. May lead multiple teams responsible for Quality Engineering for a large organization. Sets direction and leads resources to develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation, control systems, and protocols. Provides guidance across the organization in the implementation of corrective actions for design problems for internally produced products and processes.

Organization Level Description

  • Owns the execution of long-term strategy (e.g., more than 3 years) and the operational direction, typically for a business of modest size and scope. or, Manages a team of primarily experienced professionals.

  • Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short- to medium-term focus (e.g., less than 1 year to 1 - 2 years).

  • Problems faced may be difficult to moderately complex.

  • Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.

Responsibility Statements

  • Establishes key elements of Quality Engineering operational plans and initiatives with a direct impact on reducing nonconformities and ensuring quality standards are in effect.

  • Develops and leads implementation of solutions to nonconformities and to satisfy quality issues raised by customers.

  • Leads the development of new test and inspection plans, methods, and technologies to assure the reliability and conformance of products and processes.

  • Directs processes to identify and manage risk in product development, utilizing UPPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process

  • Responsibility Statements Flow and Control Plans, etc.).

  • Directs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and develops recommendations for corrective action for design problems for internally produced products & processes.

  • Ensures all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management, including Resourcing Gate and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.

Basic qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience managing a team in different locations.

  • Experience in QA auditing

  • Strong knowledge of problem solving tools.

  • Budget definition and accountability

  • Individual employee development, salary administration and performance feedback

Up to 30% - 50 % Travel


  • University degree + 8 years of experience in Quality or Advanced degree +5 years of experience
