As part of the Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS) team, you'll help develop the next generation of more intelligent, more integrated and more reliable solutions that enhance aircraft safety and performance in the most rigorous flight conditions. Primary Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this Machinist position is to provide support to the Design Engineering team in support of the ice protection and specialty heated product lines. This role supports both New Product Introduction (NPI) and R&D programs. NPI supports the preliminary design, detailed design and validation/verification testing phases of these programs. R&D supports the internal development of all product lines including; Ice Protection, Heated Composites, and Potable Water Systems.

Examples of specific responsibilities include:

  • Machine parts to specifications using manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

  • Support facility and EH&S improvements.

  • Maintenance and/or calibration of general and custom test equipment and/or laboratory.

  • Support Design Engineering in the machining and fabrication of prototypes, test rigs, equipment and/or products, installations, check out fixtures and test equipment, typically in a self-directed work environment.

  • Maintain machine tools, machine lab supplies, and ordering of materials to support development activities.

  • Support test facilities with custom machining of models, fixtures, and hardware.

Qualification: Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 plus years of applicable or military experience in the machining field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, remain organized, and complete objectives on time.

  • Proven hands-on work capabilities and knowledge of standard machining equipment.

  • Must be capable of set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.

  • Must be able to operate mechanical and electrical tools and equipment.

  • Must be able to operate manual machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

  • Must be capable of calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers.

  • Possess practical, hands-on skills with an ability to work collaboratively with technical personnel.

  • Have a good understanding of fabrication processes.

  • Ability to work independently with little supervision and deliver meaningful results.

  • Proficiency in technical knowledge and use of drawings and specifications.

  • Proficient in MS-based software packages (Word, Excel), computers, drafting, and CNC software

  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams as required.

  • Proficiency in the of set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.

  • Experience machining and fabricating electronic or mechanical test fixtures a plus.

  • Experience dismantling machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed a plus.

  • Experience programing CNC machines a plus.
