The Associate Director, Business Development will be responsible for driving the organizations strategic growth objectives by developing and refining an understanding of customers most important needs and creating/leading winning capture strategies. With responsibility for a staff of business development professionals serving a diverse market space and customer set, the selected individual will be held accountable for his/her teams identification, qualification and capture of business development (BD)opportunities as well as the generation of a qualified pipeline of opportunities necessary to meet or exceed the business units forecast and plan. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth.

Position Description

Major responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Support development and execution of Guidance, Navigation, Control and Actuation Systems (GNCAS) product line strategy to achieve overall strategic plan

  • Work with cross functional IPT to ensure technology roadmap aligns with product line strategy and voice of customer

  • Represent UTAS/Sensors & Integrated Systems as a primary point of contact for GNCAS product line

  • Drive global sales in line with growth targets and financial plans

  • Work with Product Line Managers, Director Business Development, and product line managers in order to identify, analyze, and develop strategic approaches and product plans that align with customer and market needs and drive sales and profit growth objectives with current and new customers

  • Support developing new business proposals that support overall business win strategies

  • Assist in development of internal long term strategic plans and short-term sales plans

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas to develop and offer product solutions that are responsive to customer and market needs

  • Represent the organization as the prime internal and external contact on matters in the areas of sales, strategies, and proposals

  • Develop and execute win strategies for new programs

  • Ensure cost, schedule, content and risk data is prepared, reviewed and approved for new business opportunities and proposals

  • Maintain accountability for customer communications regarding new business opportunities, product/technology roadmaps, and strategic growth activities to achieve world class customer satisfaction

  • Develop and execute strategies for strategic partnerships, acquisitions, distributors, and other business models that support company growth objectives

Qualification: Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience

  • Experience working with Guidance, Navigation and Control Actuation Systems

  • Experience with both US and International Military Customers

Education: Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years’ experience

  • 10 years of Business Development experience

  • MS Office Suite with executive level presentation

  • 5 years of people management experience

  • 5 years of Strategic Planning experience

  • 5 years of experience presenting to customers

  • 5 years working with large defense contracts

  • 5 years of demonstrated ability to close large and small sales deals, develop positive customer relationships and leading a high performing domestic or global organization

  • 5 years demonstrated ability to work in a cross functional team and communicate with all levels in the organization

  • Must be able to relocate to Vermont or Connecticut
