Role Overview:

Experienced electrical and electronics reliability engineering professional working independently. Performs engineering work and applied research, coordinates activities involving the design, analysis, test, and development of electronic equipment/devices, and prepares engineering drawings and product information documentation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform and document the following flight hardware analyses:

  • Component stress/derating

  • Reliability/MTBF predictions using Relex.

  • Failure Modes & Effects

  • System Safety Assessment per ARP4761

  • Intrinsic Safety

Additional Duties:

  • Circuit card assembly design/development/analysis of: analog, digital and power circuits including Ps/Cs/DSPs, FPGAs, sensor interfaces, motor controllers, linear and switching power supplies.

  • Create documentation including hardware design plans, technical requirements, functional specifications, design specifications, qualification test plans and reports.

  • Designing and verifying complex hardware and firmware for aerospace applications using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) with a working knowledge of programming in Verilog and/or VHDL.

  • Support current production designs including quality improvements, cost reduction, component obsolescence and failure analysis.

  • Evaluate and approve electronic components to meet requirements for availability, performance and cost.

  • Support project planning efforts and ensure execution to schedule and budget.

  • Evaluate failures to determine root cause and corrective actions.

  • Support engineering/production hardware validation/verification.

  • Interface with manufacturing engineers and technicians.

  • Apply knowledge of tolerance analysis, simulation and statistical methods to improve robustness and quality of electronic designs.

Qualification:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in design reliability and electronic circuit card design/development

  • All phases of the design, qualification and manufacturing processes

  • Development and implementation of technical solutions

  • Design practices with consideration for system level performance, EMC/EMI bonding and grounding methods.

  • Analog and digital circuit design and analyses of high reliability electronics with circuit card layout per applicable industry, military and commercial standards.

  • Good communication skills will be required to support technical communications

  • This individual will need to work with limited written and verbal direction and be able to work in a fast paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in design reliability and electronic circuit card design/development.
