Furnace Operator is an entry level position with no certification required. The purpose for an operator at this level is to learn and gain a basic understanding of brazing and heat treat operations. Operators must obtain a basic level knowledge in order to set up and operate a variety of vacuum, deep freeze, draw and hardness test equipment necessary to produce precision parts with direct supervision by a certified furnace operator (level II or above). Follow established standard work under general supervision in efforts to obtain certification within 120 days. Must be FAR145 certified within first 3 months. The operator will typically refer to problems or deviations to more experienced operators including Lead Technicians, supervisors or engineers

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Learn how to load, unload and monitor furnaces runs.

  • Learn how to alloy a variety of parts from all areas.

  • Learn how to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

  • Learn how to inspect parts that have been brazed.

  • Learn how to check harness and verify compliance to set up sheet.

  • Learn how to create and maintain IOS books.

  • Understand and follow quality testing techniques.

  • Learn how to read and understand prints so that inspection and alloy placement can be understood.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Manufacturing Documentation and Labor Transactions.

  • Support and follow all rules/guidelines/standards set by EHS, Quality, and CI functions as set by your leader and position.

  • Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process.

  • Over 40 hours per week as scheduled to meet business needs.

  • All other duties as assigned including working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business as safety related activities.

Work Environment:

  • Minimal travel required (<10%)

  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours

  • Some Holiday hours may be required based on business need

  • Working extended shifts/overtime as required by the business

Qualification:

Manufacturing background preferred, not required.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED/equivalent required.
