UTC Aerospace Systems has an immediate opening for a Principal FPGA/SoC developer to design next generation Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) imaging systems. Be part of a collaborative hardware/firmware team executing the division’s technology road map for image processing and control systems through IR&D and direct product development. Work on a small and agile development team operating with entrepreneurial ingenuity while taking advantage of opportunities to leverage diverse technologies and resources across the greater division. The Principal FPGA developer will be responsible for the architecture, requirements specification, architecture, design analysis, algorithm implementation, RTL design, and verification of FPGA based image processing and control systems designs.

Qualification: • 10+ years’ experience implementing FPGA firmware in VHDL/Verilog

• Successful track record delivering FPGA designs into production

• Experience leading a FPGA design team

• Verification experience developing test bench methodologies and infrastructure

• Active secret clearance or ability to obtain a clearance

Detailed Skill Requirements: Design Experience: FPGA System on a Chip (SoC) architecture definition and partitioning, algorithm implementation, HW/SW interfaces, PCB interfaces, and design for in-system test. Model-based design and PCB design (Mentor Tool Suite) a plus.

Tools and Languages: Xilinx Design Tools (Vivado/SDK), PC and Linux environments, Questa/Modelsim tools (GUI and scripting), and configuration management tools (Git, SVN). VHDL and C/C++ preferred. SystemVerilog and Matlab a plus. MicroSemi, Altera, and Lattice experience a plus.

Verification Experience: Creation of HDL-based test benches coupled with code-coverage tools to support directed and pseudo-random testing. SystemVerilog, high-level language simulation environments, and model based verification experience a plus

Device Experience: Xilinx: Zynq/Ultrascale+ SOC (ARM) preferred. Microcontroller experience (PIC, ARM, and Microblaze) preferred.

Specific Technology Experience: Zynq AXI peripherals, DDR and memory arbitration, Ethernet and high-speed transceivers, PCIe, image/signal processing, control systems, implementing processing functions (fixed point, pipeline, parallelism), timing closure, and chip-to-chip interfaces.

Hardware Test Experience: Vendor debugging tools (Xilinx Chip Scope) and design of synthesizable test code and traps.

Leadership Experience: Prior experience leading an FPGA design team preferred, including project planning, budgeting/scheduling, bids/proposals, and task assignment/tracking. MS Project experience preferred.

Education: BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, MS preferred
