UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) is a global leader in the design and manufacture of a variety of aerospace products. Working for the Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS) division, based in Wilson, NC, the Wilson Site Lead will report to the NC Site Engineering Director. The primary roles of the Wilson Site Lead - Manufacturing Engineering are to lead, plan, organize, and direct the site manufacturing engineering organization in support of the SIS product engineering standards, safety, cost, quality, and on-time delivery objectives. The Site Lead will be responsible for leveraging best practices from across the industry to improve process maturity and lead Manufacturing transformation and automation.

The Site Lead is a member of the site leadership team and will influence long-range strategic planning and budget preparation.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise the site team of Manufacturing Engineers and Technical Staff, balancing short-term and long-term priorities.

  • Provide manufacturing performance data by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing production data and trends.

  • Reduce cost and waste by studying operations and leading process and design improvement studies.

  • Drive process control and certification activities at manufacturing sites.

  • Work closely with Design Engineering to incorporate best practices and Design for Manufacturability principles from the onset of a new product.

  • Participate in the design review process and drive entry-in-service related manufacturing activities.

  • Identify need for new processes and technologies that improve process efficiency, execute lean initiatives and drive world-class manufacturing processes.

  • Meet financial objectives by forecasting manufacturing engineering requirements; preparing annual budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of new employees.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• History of providing innovative solutions to technical manufacturing problems.

• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.

• SAP business system experiences a plus. Strong computer skills in Microsoft applications a must.

• Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field and 5 years experience or

  • Master’s degree and 3 years experience
