Job Summary

Our Systems Engineering team is responsible for overall Head Up Guidance system definition, including the definition of product interfaces with aircraft, the definition of desired product functionality (including display formats and behaviors), and the verification and validation of the correct implementation of these defined characteristics. These are NOT electrical design or software design positions. Principal Systems Engineers are Subject Matter Experts and contribute to product architecture and technical design approaches.

We are looking for a Principal Image Processing Engineer/Image Scientist who has solid experience in image processing algorithms.

This is a great opportunity to architect and contribute to integrated image processing solutions for image sensor and system-on-chip products. The candidate will work closely with other senior level engineers to identify, design and evaluate innovative image processing algorithms to solve complex technical issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Will be involved in the design and development of Digital Signal Processing algorithms and hardware/software implementations for incorporation into sophisticated embedded imaging systems.

  • Will provide technical vision and leadership in this area. Typical projects are engineering intensive, rapid development jobs targeted at commercial, government and defense customers.

  • Apply advanced technical principles, theories and concepts and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts. Candidate will work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

  • Conceptualize "out-of-the-box" techniques for designing and developing vision algorithms and applications that apply to multi-band EO imagery

  • Design and development of vision algorithms and applications for low-latency image processing pipelines; application to airborne systems is a differentiator

  • Evaluate and establish vision system performance specifications

  • Develop test methodologies to evaluate image algorithm performance

  • Research state of the art image quality metrics, and analyze their performance; Develop new image quality metrics, and improve on existing metrics.

  • Provide in-depth technical feedback on algorithm performance to the designers.

  • Develop image analysis tools and methodology for image tuning.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

  • Must have demonstrated experience in systems development with avionics, imaging or displays

  • Matlab and C modeling or similar modeling background

  • Strong demonstrable experience with real time video processing or dynamic image processing and reconstruction, advanced filtering, color reproduction, automated threshold selection, pattern recognition, statistical analysis; experience with processing of imagery from visible and various infrared spectral bands is a strong differentiator

  • Considered a subject matter expect in the field of image processing (ideally 5+ years)

Desirable skills:

  • Airborne, low latency, high integrity systems development experience is a definite plus

  • Prior experience with real world imaging translated to pilot application
