Description:

UTAS Space Systems is looking for an Electrical Engineer or similar, who will provide engineering design, technical expertise, and field support services to various Navy programs. As a member of the Electrical Design Department, this important role will work with experienced members from different disciplines, and must be able to communicate effectively, execute work accurately, and meet program milestones. The candidate must have knowledge of related industry standards, as well as the ability to adhere to department work instructions and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • This person will be expected to eventually become the technical expert on the Electrical Design of various Navy Programs that UTAS Space Systems supports.

  • Design and develop analog and digital assemblies, circuit cards, and associated interfaces.

  • Develop and implement new technologies that continue to advance UTAS's product offering and competitiveness.

  • Provide the customer with occasional field support, which may include short-duration assists on deployed nuclear submarines.

  • Represent Electrical Engineering and/or UTAS at Customer reviews and meetings.

  • Review and interpret Customers requirements. Assess compliancy and plan/perform verification activities.

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to the Program and Customer as required.

  • Interface seamlessly with other functions (mechanical, software, systems, reliability) to provide the best-value solution that meets all customer requirements within contract required dates.

Qualification:

  • Experience with 440V, 3-phase power systems and fuel cell/stack technology desired.

  • Willingness to travel to customer locations and/or deployed or home-ported platforms to support installed base, sometimes with very short notice.

  • Willingness and ability to go to sea on board nuclear submarines.

  • Willingness to work paid overtime, especially when detailed to field service assignments.

  • 10 or more years of experience in a similar role or responsibility desired.

  • Former US Navy experience preferred and former submarine experience highly desired.

  • Requires participation in the DOD Drug Screening Pool.

  • Travel approximately 10%-20% percent, both domestic and international.

Education:

  • BS/BA degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.

  • US Citizen with ability to gain a DOD Secret clearance required. Active clearance preferred.
